With little more fanfare than mention in last Monday's paper, a bill intended to increase public scrutiny of two scandalized groups representing locally elected officials – the Kentucky Association of Counties and Kentucky League of Cities -- won final passage from lawmakers this week.
The jest of the bill is to subject the two organizations to Kentucky's open records and open meetings laws, and would require the groups to follow strict ethics guidelines and undergo annual audits. (See SB 88 here)
